Sunglasses for camping

Ideally located just twenty kilometres from the famous beaches of the Côte de Lumière, the territory of the commune of Martinet (85150) It covers 1,811 hectares of authentic landscapes. Perched on the Jaunay plateau, our village reveals magnificent green hillsides and preserved hedgerow countryside.

To the south of the commune, very close to La Mothe-Achard, you can explore the Bois-Neuf, the largest wooded area in the canton. Shaped by modern, young and dynamic agriculture focused on responsible livestock farming and arboriculture, Martinet has managed to preserve its rural identity through its sunken lanes and its original hedgerows.

Did you know? The etymology of the name «Martinet» refers to the large steam hammer once powered by the hydraulic force of our waterways.

The Little Path of the Fires :

An unusual stroll through the heart of Martinet's history

In Martinet, the history of the Midsummer fires is a true human and artistic adventure. Born from a simple spark between neighbours in 1985, this tradition has taken on a whole new dimension by setting up on the large playing field of the Ouches du Jaunay. Today, every last Saturday of June, the Andéma association erects the largest Midsummer bonfire in Vendée. The originality of this spectacular event lies in its monumental bonfires which, at the heart of their giant flames, reveal a surprise artistic metal sculpture (King Arthur, the Dancer, Japan, or even Time).

To keep this magic going all year round, be sure to explore The Little Path of the Fires. This themed walking trail starts at the campsite entrance and invites you on a pleasant stroll punctuated by iconic plaques featuring cut-out steel shadows salvaged from previous fires. A magnificent family walk combining art, nature, and legends to discover during your stay.

👉 To learn more about the trajectory and history of each sculpture, consult the official page of the Martinet Commune.
