Le Bois-Neuf in Martinet:
Our local green lung

There's no need to go far to appreciate the scent of sap and the benevolent shade of large trees. South of the commune of Martinet, in the direction of La Mothe-Achard, stretches the Bois-Neuf. It is the largest wooded area in our canton. Crossed by rural walking paths, it's the perfect place for a refreshing stroll listening to birdsong, gathering chestnuts in autumn, or enjoying a run away from the summer heat.

The forest massifs
from the Vendée coast
If you spend the day at the seaside, round off your outing with an immersion under the canopy of the magnificent state-owned forests that line our beaches:
Olonne State Forest
A genuine green corridor, 11 kilometres long, wedged between the marshes and the Atlantic Ocean, the Olonne Forest stretching over more than 1,200 hectares. Planted with maritime pines and Holm oaks to anchor the sand dunes, it is home to numerous marked footpaths, shaded cycle paths, and fitness trails. It offers a striking contrast where the scent of pine mingles with the salty sea air.
The State Forest of the Pays de Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie area
Further north, stretching from Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez to Brétignolles-sur-Mer, This coastal forest is bordered by the famous Vélodyssée cycling route. It has many picnic areas set up in the shade, ideal for a cool family break after a morning of swimming at the beach or a surf session.
